KNIT A BEACH JULY 2009

Knit a Beach vest project

I live in one gorgeous area, encircled by ocean, blessed with a temperate (not-too-steamy in the summer) climate, great food, even greater people,  with one of the foremost purveyors of hand-dyed yarns right on my doorstep. The Fleece Artist (literally right around the corner) who stocks our Maritime yarn stores to abundance. All this adds up to an appealing retreat for those eager to escape the parched heat of summer in their homeland. Now, after completing two successful Knit A Beaches at White Point Lodge, Nova Scotia, I am collaborating with Cricket Cove yarn shop of Black's Harbour, New Brunswick, to offer a weekend Knit-a-beach retreat this July. Hey, this is close enough for most New Englanders to drive with lots of things to keep family and friends busy while we knit our beaches. Oh, and the yarn at Cricket Cove! Be still my beating heart.

        **St. Andrew's Summer Workshop with Jane Thornley - July 24, 25 and 26**

Join us for a Jane Thornley workshop in beautiful St. Andrews-By-the-Sea

Jane will be teaching how to knit her gorgeous Knit-a-Beach top (or knitter’s will have a choice of another project for shrug, shawl, scarf). Something for everyone!

                           ~~~~~Here's what the week-end looks like~~~~~

Friday evening – 6-9pm Wine and Cheese and an evening of shopping and fun at Cricket Cove in Blacks Harbour.
Choose your project, choose your yarns, wind your yarns, etc. We promise to have every imaginable combination of yarns available!!!

(Bring your stash to supplement your project)

Saturday – St. Andrews Anglican Hall - 9-4pm
Full Workshop Day with am and pm Nutrition Breaks.
Lunch: on your own - lots of choices nearby - or bring your own - (full kitchen available)
Evening: free - shop in Blacks Harbour open if requested.

Sunday – St. Andrews Anglican Hall - 9-4pm
Full Workshop Day (repeat schedule)

Cost for week-end $150 (includes nutrition breaks)

This trip is suitable for husbands and non-knitters. My husband came and took the guys off to do...um...guy things like deepsea fishing while we knitters did the sensible thing (knit). Antiquing, art foraging are other suggestions.  Female non-knitters will not be excluded: I'll tailor alternative activities according to interest. Golfing packages and so many other activities are usually available at our host lodgings, including hanging around at the beach, frolicking in the waves, etc.
