Jane's booth at Dalhousie Craft Market.
This weekend and last Jane went to market for the first time. She loaded all her knitwear, jewelry and at least some of the living room furniture into her jeep and shuttled off to the appointed venues in Halifax. Recent lessons in humilty caused her to keep expectations low. She hoped to proove that her long standing yarn and bead problem does, in fact, have a positive outcome. She hoped to meet a few interesting people and gain some feedback. Money would help. One does not discount the benefit of money when coping with aforementioned yarn and bead problem.
It's Saturday night with one more day to go. Jane's eyes are rimmed with the red itchy glow that comes from standing in poorly ventillating buildings all day. She is very tired, so tired, in fact, she finds it too difficult to write in first person (well, she's been dealing with the public all day). However, she is happy. She's had very good feedback. She's been approached by people who are actually moved by her work, something that's a bit of a surprize considering she strings baubles and knits (note: no one gives Nobel Peace prize to knitters). But she is honored. And touched. She can only hope that her work will bring people pleasure or even comfort and support. If it brings a little light into another's day, that's enough.
So, she's off to bed now but will post a few pictures of her booth and her friends, promising that in her next posting, she'll be back to her old self.
